Nearly two decades ago, Christus Santa Rosa and Methodist Healthcare System scrapped talks on jointly developing a children's hospital after a long, bitter debate over where to build the thing – the Medical Center or downtown. Nelson Wolff, the mayor of San Antonio at the time, and the rest of the City Council sided with champions of the inner city.
But now that a stand-alone children's hospital is back on the table, thanks to his exertions as county judge, the old Democrat thinks the Medical Center would do just fine.
