If Harlandale legal counsel Tony Resendez's last name looks familiar, it's because his father used to be school board president. And it's no coincidence the connected lawyer's firm was named the district's interim legal counsel in November, according to two sources who asked to remain anonymous because of their closeness to the situation. During Harlandale's contentious breakup with local law firm Escamilla Poneck & Cruz, they say pressure was coming from former board President Victor Resendez to give his son's firm the lucrative work.
