Ramos wants Rodriguez booted from ballot

Former City Councilwoman Jennifer Ramos has filed a complaint with the Bexar County Democratic Party challenging the residency of Commissioner Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez in the race for the party's nomination in Precinct 1. She wants the two-term incumbent disqualified because of the house for which he's claimed a homestead exemption – the tax break is listed on a house he owns, but where his ex-wife and children live, which is outside the South Side precinct.

“People should care who's representing them," Ramos said. "If it's an individual that's not living in their area then they should have a say on if they want somebody who represents them that lives in their area, that knows the issues for their area."

Rodriguez says he’s lived in Precinct 1 since his divorce in 1996, and that the complaint is just dirty politics.
