
Bruce Shackelford chuckles. "No, I don't have a [television celebrity] persona. It never occurred to me to develop one and I don't think I could anyway," he says, his West Texas drawl crackling over the phone lines. Shackelford's the Witte Museum's Brown Foundation curator, an independent consultant in the historical content of American Indians and the American West, writer of articles for such magazines as Southwest Art, contributor to historical tomes including Black Cowboys of Texas and author of an upcoming historical biography of the legendary West family, and featured Tribal Arts appraiser for PBS anchor feature Antiques Roadshow.
