I feel uncomfortable, even disingenuous, discussing Britt Lorraine’s dancing, for it’s remarkably close to my own: disconnected, erratic, largely driven by an unfortunate hindquarter shimmy, and, for the most part, best left to the boudoir. And I think that’s the point.
Created by the collaborative team Saintlorraine with art direction by Kristy Perez, RITE is a contemporary remake of the Ballet Russes' Rite of Spring that debuted this past Friday night from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Yes, that’s correct: from six in the evening until two in the morning. Eight hours and counting, a real tour d’endurance.
