Keeping the peace in GOP sheriff's race

How are Susan Pamerleau and Ralph Diaz similar?

Well, where do we start? Both Pamerleau and Diaz – who are competing in the May 29 Republican primary for Bexar County sheriff – are San Antonio transplants, retired federal employees, and nomadic workaholics who rarely stayed in one place for long. Both of them were approaching senior-citizen status before they ever considered running for political office, and even then, only did so after some cajoling from prominent local Republicans.

The Pamerleau/Diaz matchup is so intriguing that it tends to obscure the presence of Donald Falcon, the one candidate in the GOP field who is actually from SA, the only candidate with experience in the sheriff’s office or a peace officer’s license.
