Former City Councilwoman Delicia Herrera has talked about travails and high points in her personal life, threatened to sue deadbeat clients, and hawked Fredericksburg peaches – all on Facebook. She's also used the venue to describe happy moments with friends, as well as injuries and other setbacks, and to give herself pep talks.
She tacitly admits to being an over-sharer, but says her posts aren't thoughtless or off the cuff.
"I get berated by certain people – 'Oh, you say too much on Facebook,'" Herrera says. "Well, what you see is what you get with me. I'm not pretentious. I'm not fake. And I don't do anything knee-jerk."
The 38-year-old says she follows one of City Manager Sheryl Sculley's rules of conduct: If there's any chance that something you want to put in writing can cause trouble, wait 24 hours before writing it.
