Guest column: Hold Cortez, Rodriguez accountable for Durango

The City Council’s decision to change the name of Durango Blvd. to Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. was unpopular with the majority of San Antonio's citizens. There probably isn't much we can do about it now, but two of the councilmen who voted for the change are running for state offices this election season. So, maybe there is something we can do about it after all. Former District 4 Councilman Phil Cortez is running for Texas House District 117, and former D7 representative Justin Rodriguez is running for the District 125 seat.

If these two politicians are not going to vote for what their constituents want on a city level, what says they won't do the same at the state level? I think they should be held accountable for voting against the will of the people.
