Herrera gets a little TLR

Texans for Lawsuit Reform took enough time away from writing checks for Elizabeth Ames Jones to shower $50,000 on former Councilwoman Delicia Herrera's under-funded campaign in the last month, according to her most recent campaign finance report.

Herrera, who served on Council from 2005 to 2009, is seeking the Democratic nomination against former City Council colleague Justin Rodriguez in Texas House District 125.

Before the business-backed political action committee's late arrival, she'd gotten by largely on contributions from developers and restaurant owners – such as Louie Barrios and Frontier Enterprises' Jimmy Hasslocher – who are still upset with Rodriguez because of his push in 2010 to tighten the City's anti-smoking ordinance.
