Illustration by Jeremiah TeutschWhen County Judge Nelson Wolff met with Mayor Julian Castro over lunch at the Palm on August 4, he left with the impression that Castro supported his plan to commit a significant portion of funding to build a starter streetcar line through downtown San Antonio. In return for the County's pledge, the City would put up a matching amount, $55 million. City Manager Sheryl Sculley was also in attendance, as was County Manager David Smith, and Keith Parker and Henry Muñoz, CEO and chairman of VIA, San Antonio's public transit agency – many of their portraits among the celebrity likenesses painted on the walls of the clubby downtown steakhouse.
